General
The essentials on cost, savings, and how we work.
Most homeowners start at $0 down with financing, then pay a low fixed monthly rate that's often less than their old electric bill. Your exact price depends on system size and usage — the free estimate gives you real numbers in minutes.
Yes — but the math changed. NEM 3.0 pays much less for exported energy, so pairing solar with a battery to use your own power at night is now the highest-return setup. We design every quote around NEM 3.0 so your savings are real.
We do. Qualified homeowners can go solar with zero money down and no payments for up to 24 months, then low fixed monthly rates. You own the system, so you keep the added home value — and our 28% saving on material cost is built into your price.
We're based in Santa Monica and install across Southern California — including Los Angeles, Calabasas, Thousand Oaks, Pacific Palisades, and Malibu — with local crews who know your utility and permitting.
Every system is covered by a 25-year warranty with a maintenance plan. Our panels are also tested to outperform industry standards by about 10 years, so you get more power over a longer life.
Residential Solar
Going solar on your home — roofs, savings, and resale.
Most roofs are a great fit — asphalt shingle, tile, and flat roofs all work. We assess orientation, pitch, shading, and age during your free design, and we'll flag it early if a minor repair or a ground-mount makes more sense.
A right-sized system typically offsets 90%+ of your annual usage. We model your actual bill and roof so the design targets your real consumption — not a generic average.
A solar-only system shuts off during an outage for utility-worker safety. If staying powered through outages matters to you, pairing solar with a battery keeps your essentials — fridge, Wi-Fi, lights — running.
Owned solar systems generally add to resale value and help homes sell faster, because the buyer inherits lower energy bills. Because you own a Sunko system, that added value stays with your property.
An owned system transfers with the home and is a selling point. If you financed, the loan can typically be paid off at closing or transferred — we'll walk you through the options when the time comes.
Commercial Solar
Solar for businesses — savings, payback, and operations.
The federal solar tax credit is no longer available. Instead, Sunko passes a 28% saving on material cost straight through to your project price — a discount from us, not a government program you have to claim. Businesses also save through reduced demand charges and lower operating costs, and state or utility programs may add more.
It depends entirely on your rate schedule, usage profile, and roof — so we model it per project rather than quoting a generic figure. Our 28% material-cost saving comes off the price up front, and demand-charge reductions shorten it further. You'll get your own payback projection before you commit.
Often, yes. Pairing solar with storage lets you shave peak demand and shift usage away from the most expensive hours, which can meaningfully cut demand charges on commercial rate schedules.
We plan around your business hours and phase the work to minimize disruption. Most installs happen with little or no downtime, and we coordinate roof access and safety in advance.
Yes — we manage the full permitting, utility interconnection, and inspection process end to end, so your team can stay focused on running the business.
Financing & Incentives
Ways to pay, our 28% material saving, and what $0 down means.
Three main paths: pay cash for the fastest payback and biggest lifetime savings, take a $0-down loan to own the system while keeping cash in hand, or a lease/PPA for no-ownership simplicity. We show all three side by side so you can choose.
The federal solar tax credit is no longer available. Instead of waiting on a government credit at tax time, Sunko applies a 28% saving on material cost directly to your system price — so the discount shows up in your quote, not on next year's tax return. You'll see it itemized before you sign.
Qualified homeowners can start with zero money down and often no payments for up to 24 months, then a low fixed monthly rate. You still own the system, so you keep the added home value — and our 28% material-cost saving is already built into your price.
A loan means you own the system, benefit from our 28% material saving on the purchase price, and add home value — best long-term value for most owners. A lease/PPA has no upfront cost and the provider handles maintenance, but you don't own the system. We'll help you weigh it.
With a loan you still own the system, so you keep the resale value and the 28% material saving is reflected in your purchase price. With a lease/PPA the provider owns the equipment, so those benefits stay with them. That ownership difference is the biggest factor in long-term savings.
Battery & Storage
Backup power, storage economics, and adding a battery.
Not always — but under NEM 3.0 a battery is often the highest-return add-on, because it lets you use your own cheap solar power in the expensive evening hours instead of exporting it for less. It also keeps your home powered through outages.
It depends on the battery size and what you run. A single battery can typically carry a home's essentials — fridge, Wi-Fi, lights, outlets — through an evening or a short outage; adding capacity extends that. We size it to your backup goals.
Yes. Most modern inverters we install are battery-ready, so you can start with solar and add storage down the road without redoing the system. We'll note that path in your design if you're on the fence.
Yes — our 28% saving on material cost covers the equipment in your system, storage included. The federal battery tax credit is no longer available, so this discount comes directly from Sunko rather than a government program.
